26th October SSPS Class
Quick review from last Sundays class.
Its now a 2 hour session, first hour Self Protection, second hour MMA.
All in all a great two hours of training.
We always start with the bread & butter warm up drill good'ol vertical grappling.
Hands requiring face drill/ vertical grappling.
Starting in a neutral wrestling position, both persons require face,
This turns a wrestling drill in to a practical grappling drill for learning how to Shred (gross motor feral fighting)
We change partners until we have gone around twice @ 1min rounds each.
Mirror Drill using focus pads.
Drill 1
Partner stands in a every day stance with their fence/ passive stance up & ready.
Pad man puts his pads on each hand, pad man when ready & feels like it tries to hit the defender how ever he likes.
In any random combos the pad man attacks hard in using the following; sucker punch, straight grab/ strike, being taken-down.
In this drill the defender gets used to & learning covering up & understanding the ways/ types & angles of each attack used on him.
If you don't cover up properly you get hit hard around with a focus pad.
Drill 2
Same as drill 1, the defender has to now stop the attacks if possible & or move forward & attack back,
Great drill practical reflex drill for defending & attacking back in one motion. (FYI we use Deane Lawlers Rsult cover & Rich D Senshido)
2 on 1 Passive Stance/ The Fence Scenario.
Drill 1
Defender stands in a every day stance with their fence/ passive stance up, in front of him are two individuals.
The bad guys in this scenario are in disagreement with you over a situation & your there problem (common every day type situation)
You have to now be assertive & diffuse this situation with out stepping/ moving back. Also being misunderstood as being aggressive, abrasive or attacking.
The idea behind this drill is developing self-confidence and assertiveness. Also in diffusing while not getting into tunnel vision & being fixated on one guy.
Drill 2
Defender stands in a every day stance with their fence/ passive stance up, in front of him are two individuals.
The bad guys in this scenario are in disagreement with you over a situation & your there problem (common every day type situation)
The good guy tries to diffuse this situation & realises that he cant, now when the bad guy wants he can now sucker punch the good guy.
The defender doesn't know who's about to attack him... only one attack, the scenarios is over once the defender gains control of the attacker.
